Guide to Casino Games

Casino games have evolved through the years. The latest casino games being played at casinos worldwide are actually derived from the old times. It was the French workers who first played the game of roulette. Napoleon was adept in vingt-et-un or currently, blackjack.

The English first introduced game of craps, the basis for present-day poker games. Betting techniques were established by the French and the bluffing concept created by the British.

The first European colonists came to the New World bringing the passion of this game with them. They introduced several games to the colony: horse-racing, cockfighting and county-sponsored lotteries.

Lotteries generated so much interests that the county governments derived huge amounts of revenues from them. Lottery money was used to fund public buildings particularly colleges and universities – Harvard, Yale, Princeton and others.

In recent times, popular casino games include: blackjack, slots, roulette, poker, craps, pai gow, keno, baccarat. For skill games: backgammon and gin rummy. These are but a few of the games being played at casinos. There are a number of other games available for the gamers, depending on what the casino offers.

One of the most popular casino game is poker. Poker is being played in a number of ways however, the rules of the game remain virtually the same.

Playing Poker

Poker makes use of card games. It has a set of betting rules and hand rankings. There are a number of variations of playing poker but they all deal with cards, the formation of hands and high or low hands, bet limits and allowable rounds of betting rules.

Modern pokers require forced betting at the first round. The first to play would be the one to the left. Each player must match the maximum bet or fold ( give up the hand). Betting only ends when all players have matched the last bet or everyone folded. If only one player is left, the player may collect the pot without showing his hand. If there are more than one player, the players must show their hands to determine who wins the pot.
