Texas Holdem (Poker) explained
The game Texas holdem is played with 52 cards. The number of poker tables, belonging to a poker tournament, is variable. Normally the seats of each table are taken by up to ten poker players. The best players of the poker rounds on each table continue the game by playing against each other as long as finally the best player remains.
A Texas holdem game on a poker table starts with an open card for each player. The one, who has the highest card is the dealer. The player in the dealer position is represented by the dealer button. The dealer position is symbolic. The cards are dealt by a dealer who is not included in the playing round. At first each player is dealt two private cards face down. The goal of the game is to build the highest poker hand of these two cards and five community cards in the middle of the table.
Texas holdem is a game, being played in four rounds, followed by the showdown. Before the first round starts, the player on the left of the player in the dealer position posts the small blind. The round is continuing clockwise. It’s the turn of the player next to the donor of the small blind to post the big blind. Usually a small blind is the half of the big blind. The first round is being opened by the player next to the giver of the big blind. The progression of the round depends on the decision of this player. He has three possibilities. He can post the minimum bet, as high as the big blind (hold). He can top the big blind (raise) and he can refuse a bet (fold). The decision depends from the cards in his hand. The same do all the following players. A player who folds has to leave the table.
Before the second round starts, the faces of the first three cards in the middle of the table are being shown. This time the player who has to make the first decision has the possibility to await (check). If the first player makes uses of this, all the following players have the same possibility. If the first player bets, the following players have to bet too, otherwise they have to leave the table.
Before the third round starts, the fourth community card is being uncovered. The round is proceeded the same way than the second round. Before the fourth betting round starts all the five community cards are being uncovered. After this round follows the showdown. Now the last two players, still sitting on the table, have to uncover their private two cards. The winner is the player who is able to form the highest five-card poker hand from his two cards and the five community cards.
